     A RESOLUTION

congratulating the Central Missouri Humane Society and Columbia Catholic School students Amanda Huhman and Libby Burks for winning the Zootoo.com million dollar makeover contest.

    WHEREAS, the Central Missouri Humane Society is a private, non-profit organization whose mission is to prevent cruelty to and alleviate suffering of all animals; and

    WHEREAS, the Central Missouri Humane Society is committed to responsible pet ownership and elevating the welfare of all animals through adoption, education and intervention programs; and

    WHEREAS, the dedication of seventh graders Amanda Huhman and Libby Burks in initiating and promoting the local campaign for the Zootoo.com contest led to the Central Missouri Humane Society finishing first in voting; and  

    WHEREAS, as the winner of the online contest, the Central Missouri Humane Society is eligible for as much as $1 million in goods and services coordinated by Zootoo.com; and

    WHEREAS, the efforts of Amanda Huhman and Libby Burks will benefit animals in more than 53 mid-Missouri counties serviced by the Central Missouri Humane Society.

    NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:

    SECTION 1.    The City Council extends its heartfelt congratulations to the Central Missouri Humane Society and Amanda Huhman and Libby Burks for winning the Zootoo.com million dollar makeover contest.
