     A RESOLUTION

authorizing an extension of the temporary closure of a portion of Rollins Street west of Hitt Street.

    WHEREAS, the University of Missouri had been granted permission by the City on July 17, 2006 to temporarily close a portion of Rollins Street between Hitt Street and Missouri Avenue to allow for construction of the Student Center/Brady Commons expansion; and

    WHEREAS, the University of Missouri had been granted permission by the City on August 6, 2007 and July 7, 2008 to extend the temporary closure of the north lane of Rollins Street west of Hitt Street to allow for staging and access during construction of the Student Center/Brady Commons expansion project; and

    WHEREAS, the University of Missouri has requested permission of the City for an additional extension of the temporary closure of the north lane of Rollins Street west of Hitt Street.

    NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF COLUMBIA, MISSOURI, AS FOLLOWS:

    SECTION 1.    The City Council hereby authorizes the University of Missouri to temporarily close a portion of Rollins Street west of Hitt Street from July 2, 2009 to July 1, 2010 as shown on “Exhibit A” to allow for staging and access during construction of the Student Center/Brady Commons expansion project.

    SECTION 2.    The University of Missouri shall close the street only in accordance with the traffic control plan submitted and approved by the City's Director of Public Works.  The University shall be responsible for all signs and barricades necessary for the protection and convenience of the general public.  The University shall be responsible for notifications to the media and emergency personnel.
