Taxi Licensing

The Finance Department is responsible for the administration, direction, and coordination of all financial services of the City involving financial planning, budgeting, treasury management, investments, purchasing, accounting, payroll, business licensing, insurance, and utility customer services.

Taxicab and Limousine Licenses
(Sections 28-77 through 28-121, Columbia Code of Ordinances)

Every taxi and limousine company in the City must obtain a Business License. Application forms may be obtained from the Business License Office, 701 East Broadway, Columbia, MO 65205.

The fee is $20.00 for the first vehicle and $10.00 for each vehicle thereafter.

The application form must list each vehicle used in connection with the business, and each vehicle shall be inspected by the Columbia Police Department.

A Certificate of Insurance that includes the liability coverage limits for must be submitted for each vehicle.

The location of the taxi business must be located in a commercially zoned location within the City of Columbia.

All taxi drivers must apply for and obtain a chauffeurs license from the Business License Office.

Licenses shall be in effect from the date of issuance until the following June 30.
