Fire Facts

Nearly half (44%) of American households who made an estimate thought they would have at least 6 minutes before a fire in their home would become life-threatening. The time available is often less. And only 8% said their first thought on hearing a smoke alarm would be to get out!

Mission Statement

The mission of the Columbia Fire Department is FIRE PREVENTION THROUGH EDUCATION. Through our most valuable resource, our employees, the Columbia Fire Department provides emergency medical care; assistance during fires, explosions, hazardous material incidents and other catastrophic occurrences. In addition, the Columbia Fire Department provides fire investigation, fire inspection and code enforcement services which effect the lives, property and general well-being of the citizens.
