The Columbia Fire Department asks for your help so
that we may respond to emergencies quickly and efficiently
by not parking in fire lanes. Fire Lanes are designated
by fire officials to allow emergency vehicles access
to buildings for firefighting and other emergencies
such as smoke scares, fire alarms and medical emergencies.
When
you see signs posted designating the area as, "No
Parking - Fire Lane", please do not park in that
area. Not even for a minute as that is all the time
needed for an emergency to occur and fire and other
emergency crews to be delayed.
Fire lane violations are punishable by a summons with
a penalty of $100.00.
