In 1994, the City of Columbia and the Boone County Fire Protection District entered into a "Territorial Agreement" which served to delineate areas of primary service and provide for financial compensation to each entity for services rendered.
In 2009, the City of Columbia and the Boone County Fire Protection District modified the agreement which is now known as "The Fire Service Agreement". The proposal was signed in to ordinance by Council as of March 31, 2009 and expires on March 31, 2014. The agreement still defines areas of primary service and areas of automatic aid while continuing to provide reasonable financial compensation to the Boone County Fire Protection District for services provided within the corporate city limits of Columbia.
