Human Resources is to coordinate the efforts of all city departments in the selection, hiring, evaluation, promotion, training and development of staff and employee wellness. The department's primary goal is maintaining a dedicated, professional staff that provides quality support services to the city and the public.

How do I apply for Police Officer and Firefighter positions?

- Completed application materials must be returned to the HR office
- Application materials are kept on file until the position(s) opens
- Once the position is open we will contact you to see if you are still interested
How do I apply for the Communications Operator I position?
- Call (573) 874-7235 for an information packet and to schedule a computer test
- Completed application materials must be returned to the HR office
- Applicants must successfully pass the required computer test prior to the deadline
- Computer tests are given in the HR office by appointment only
- Computer tests are administered Monday – Friday at 8am, 10am, Noon and 2pm
When are Communications Operator I, Police Officer and Firefighter jobs opened?
- Communications Operator I generally opens twice a year
- Police Officer job generally opens 1-2 times a year
- Firefighter job generally opens every 2 years
- These are subject to change depending on need
