Prepare for Winter Storms

Winter storms can be deadly but by preparing your house and car before it hits- you can protect your family.

Prepare your House:

The Centers for Disease Control recommends having a two week supply of the following items in your household:

Prepare your Car:

With the arrival of snow and ice, car wrecks and travel problems usually follow. By having your car prepared, you can avoid unnecessary dangers and frustrations. Emergency supplies you should have in your vehicle include:

Remember to check your antifreeze levels, tires, windshield-wipers and fluid.

Dress for the Weather:

In order to prevent hypothermia and frostbite, adults and children should bundle up by wearing hats, scarves/masks, long-sleeve shirts, gloves/mittens, water-resistant coats and shoes, and several layers of loose-fitting clothing.

Seek refuge immediately! Snow, strong winds, near zero visibility, deep snow drift s and life-threatening wind chill are highly probable.
