The Financial Assistance Program was created to provide economically disadvantaged individuals access to recreational facilities and programs. The primary focus awarding financial assistance is on youth between the ages of 2-17. Adults are encouraged to apply for assistance as well, however, limited funds are available.
Applications are available on-line, at the downtown Parks & Recreation office located at 7th and Broadway and at the Activity & Recreation Center (ARC) located at 1701 W. Ash.
In order to qualify, interested participants need to be a resident of the City of Columbia, complete the application and provide documentation of all forms of income. Eligibility is based on total household size and total household income.
If you would like to speak with a Parks & Recreation staff member in regards to the financial assistance program, contact the Parks & Recreation office at 573-874-7460.
The City of Columbia has allocated $50,000 for youth and $10,000 for the adult portion of the program for the current fiscal year (October 1, 2012 - September 30, 2013).
