CAMP ADVENTURE enrollment is open to children who have
completed kindergarten up to and including those who
have completed seventh grade.
Registration cannot be confirmed for any session
until:
1. Payment in full or a deposit is received.
2. All completed registration materials are received.
3. Space availability has been confirmed by a member
of the Parks & Recreation staff.
NOTE: All sessions are generally filled.
Early registration is recommended.
Camp Hours
Camp begins each day at 8:30am and ends at 4:30pm.
Before and after care is provided for an additional
fee.
Sunrise Club: 7:00am - 8:30am
Sunset Club: 4:30pm - 6:00pm
Pre-Registration
Pre-registration is required. Unregistered campers cannot
be brought to Sunrise or Sunset club. ANY UNREGISTERED
CHILD THAT IS DROPPED OFF EARLY OR PICKED UP LATE WILL
BE CHARGED A FEE OF $5.00 FOR EACH OCCURANCE.
Children
registered in this program should be brought to and
picked up from the Stephens Lake Park office. A minimum
number of campers must be registered for Sunrise and
Sunset clubs. If the minimum registration is not met
by the Wednesday preceding a new session, parents who
have campers registered will be notified and refunded.
What To Wear/Bring
- Campers should wear play clothes and tennis shoes.
- Campers should bring their own lunch every day.
We suggest that lunches be brought in coolers since
we are unable to provide refrigeration. We recommend
that sodas not be brought to camp. Sodas will not
be available for sale at camp. Campers may purchase
drinks at Albert-Oakland Family Aquatic Center on swim
days only. Frozen juice and kool-aid are excellent
drinks for lunches. Although water is always available
we recommend bringing two drinks.
- Campers should bring and wear sunscreen.
- Lunches, jackets, sunscreen, etc. should be marked
with the camper's name.
- No radios or electronic games/devices will be
allowed at camp.
- If camper is on medication, the parent/guardian
must request a medication form. NO MEDICATION
CAN BE ADMINISTERED WITHOUT THIS COMPLETED FORM.
- Campers should wear a swimsuit and bring a towel
on Mondays and Fridays. (For Escapade Week,
campers need a swimsuit and towel on Monday, Tuesday,
Wednesday, and Friday.)
- To maintain our proper counselor/camper ratio,
campers should not bring friends to camp who are
not enrolled in our program.
Late Arrival/Early Departure
Although our base camp is at
Stephens Lake Park, we frequently
visit other Columbia facilities. Swim days, rainy days
and field trips take part or all of our campers out
of Stephens Lake Park at various times. Because of
this, late arrivals and early departures of campers
are difficult to arrange. If a camper must be picked
up early the parent or guardian must send a WRITTEN
NOTE with the camper and must verbally confirm arrangements
with the child's counselor. We cannot adjust our schedule
or leave your child at the park alone. Please avoid
late arrivals/early departures. Your child will certainly
be missing out on something exciting!
Emergency Contact Numbers
If you need to contact the
CAMP ADVENTURE staff
during camp hours call the Camp Office at 256-0135.
If no answer, call the Parks and Recreation office
at 874-7460. They will contact us and relay a message.
After hours call your child's counselor. A list of
counselor phone numbers will be sent home with your
child on the first day of camp. Occasionally, a bus
or weather problem may require getting information
to parents after the main office is closed. Messages
concerning late bus arrivals or schedule changes will
be left on our Recreation Hotline at 874-7663.
Camper Contracts
The staff of
CAMP ADVENTURE strives to not only
provide fun and learning experiences, but to also stress
respect for the environment and others (including safety).
All of our rules are designed around these two objectives.
If a camper repeatedly fails to follow the rules and
leadership of the
CAMP ADVENTURE staff, the
camper is placed "under contract". This contract
is designed to help the camper further understand the
necessity of the rules. It also lists future consequences
which he/she will face if the problem continues. If
a camper is placed under contract you will receive
a copy to sign and return with the camper the next
day of camp. Contracts can aid campers in learning
that they are responsible for their own actions and
their consequences. We believe that you as a parent/guardian
will appreciate knowing of any problems that your child
may experience.
T-Shirts
Camp t-shirts are available for sale for $7.00. These
are quality weight t-shirts with the camp logo on the
front and the Parks and Recreation logo on the back.
Campers should bring check (payable to Parks and Recreation)
or cash to their counselor.
