Philips Park Development - Phase I

Project Description: Develop Phase I of Philips Park. The City received a $157,500 Missouri Department of Conservation grant to build fishing facilities at Philips Park. The City's match for the grant is $52,500, funded out of the Phase I park development budget. The following amenities are to be constructed as part of the grant agreement: entrance road, parking lot (10 vehicles + 10 vehicles w/trailer minimum), boat ramp, courtesy boat dock, floating fishing dock, restrooms, security lighting, and sidewalks connecting facilities. The remainder of the Phase I development funds will be used to begin the park development.

Interested Parties Meeting: Held 6:00-7:00pm, Thursday, April 16, 2009 at the ARC. (See also interested parties meetings held for southeast regional park.)

Project Notes: A Phase I cultural resource survey has been completed for the property. Public meetings and web surveys have been conducted to assist in the overall master planning of Philips Park and the Crane property as a southeast regional park. An ordinance requesting approval for the Phase I PUD development was introduced at the February 16, 2009 Council Meeting. An interested parties meeting was held April 16, 2009 at the ARC. A public hearing was held and the ordinance to proceed with the construction of the project was approved at the April 20, 2009 Council Meeting.

Project Status: All elements identified for the MDC grant are completed. MDC has inspected project and issued the grant reimbursement. Installation of the water fountain remains to be completed. The park dedication is scheduled for Saturday, May 21 in conjunction with a Fishing Derby (no charge). Registration begins at 9:00am.
