Description: In 2011, the City of Columbia had an outside consultant complete an assessment of ADA compliance of City facilities. Over $800,000 in ADA compliance projects were identified for parks and recreation facilities. The projects ranged from lowering bathroom mirrors 1.5 inches to replacing sidewalks. It is anticipated that the future project budget may be adjusted as staff determines which projects can be accomplished with in-house staff and/or funded through the annual park maintenance operating budget.

Project Manager: Mike Griggs, Asst. Director, 573-874-7202, mbg@GoColumbiaMo.com

Project Notes: In September 2011, 33 reports ranging from 6-34 pages each for parks and recreation facilities were made available to Parks and Recreation staff. Staff analyzed the reports and will prioritize and schedule the projects based on need, usage, feasibility, and funding. Work on the some of the projects will begin in 2012. Work that does not qualify as a capital improvement will be funded out of the annual park maintenance operating budget.
