Annual City/School Playground Improvement

History

The City of Columbia has provided funding for improvements to playgrounds and/or other park facilities on school grounds that are made available for use by the public during non-school hours. Annual funding, when available, is set aside each year for this program. Below is a chart showing the schools that have benefited from this program since 1998.

Project Description: Install new modular playground equipment.
Project Notes: Parkade Elementary School playground agreement and project replaced the Field Elementary School playground agreement and project. Due to the building of a new elementary school, the future use of the Field Elementary School building and grounds had not yet been determined. Columbia Public Schools requested the project be changed to Parkade.
Project Status:
Project completed.

Fairview Elementary School -
City/School Co-op Playground Project

Project Description:
Construct oval gravel track at Fairview Elementary School. Other playgrounds improvements will be considered, as funding allows.
Project Status:
Track was completed and dedicated on October 7, 2009. School is assessing other playground needs to use fund balance.

Derby Ridge Elementary School - City/School Co-op Playground Project

Project Status: Agreement has been executed. Awaiting completion of the project by Columbia Public Schools.
