2011 Annual Park Improvement Projects

In Fiscal Year 2011, $100,000 was budgeted for major park maintenance and small renovation projects. Bench Replacement

Funding Fiscal Year: 2011
Project Number: C00413
Project Budget: $5,000
Funding Source: Annual Parks - Park Sales Tax
Year Completed: 2011

Project Description: Replace 7 Memorial/Heritage benches at Twin Lakes Recreation Area.

Project Manager: Paul Scolaro, Construction Supervisor, 573-874-7205, PSS@GoColumbiaMo.com

Project Notes: This is the third funding year for a bench replacement program. Donated benches from the Memorial/Heritage Bench Program have been placed along the trails and in the parks. Some benches date back to 1995 and are in need of replacement (see sample photo). The replacement benches are made with environmentally-friendly recycled plastic lumber and have zinc plaques. (See sample photos) The older wooden benches would periodically need to be re-painted and rotten wooden boards replaced. The new benches are more maintenance friendly, as they do not require re-painting, and the recycle-lumber boards do not deteriorate as with wood.
