Columbia Parks and Recreation
Creating Community through People, Parks and Programs
The City of Columbia and Columbia Public Schools partner together to save taxpayer dollars. The following are capital improvement projects accomplished as a result of a partnership between the two agencies. Some projects were funded by both agencies, while others were 100% funded by Parks and Recreation due to an co-op agreement for Parks and Recreation's use of a school-owned property or facility.
The following park lands are adjacent to public schools. This close proximity of parks to schools allows for shared amenities, avoiding duplication of sports fields, playgrounds, running tracks, etc. Some of the park lands are owned in whole or part by Columbia Public Schools and are developed and operated by Parks and Recreation for public use through a cooperative land use agreement. Capital improvement projects for each of these parks can be found on the respective park's web page.
