About
the Douglass Baseball Program
Since 1996, the Douglass Athletic Association has been a community organization that helps the youth of central Columbia by providing T-ball and baseball recreation during the summer months.
The Douglass Athletic Association promotes a fun, non-competitive environment for boys and girls ages 5-14. Douglass Baseball is designed to teach kids basic baseball skills. Having fun and learning to play baseball are the program's main goals.
Games are played at Douglass Park, which is conveniently located at Providence and Rogers Streets in Columbia.
Sponsoring
By becoming a league sponsor, you will help enable
kids in our community to have a safe and fun place
to play this summer.
League sponsorships begin at just $50. All sponsors will have their name featured on a park banner and other promotional items and advertising. Sponsors will receive a commemorative plaque and a decal as a special thank you.
Coaching
Opportunities are available to assist the league by
becoming a team coach. Each team will have a head
coach/coaches and 1-2 assistant coaches. A thorough
knowledge of baseball is not required - only a willingness
to help guide players in the game.
Responsibilities include contacting team players, practicing on a regular basis, and coaching games. With the coach-pitch teams, one or more of the coaches will serve as the pitcher for his/her team. Coaching will involve a weekly time commitment of approximately 5-8 hours, but it can be divided among the team's coaches.
Officiating
If you have a good working knowledge of the game and
would like to assist the league in officiating games,
please let us know.
If you are interested in sponsoring, coaching or officiating, please leave a message for the League Coordinator at (573) 874-6378.
