South Providence Trail

Trail: 1.7 miles, concrete with limestone side path

The South Providence Trail runs alongside Providence Road from Old Plank Road to Green Meadows Road. By use of the crosswalk at Providence and Old Plank Road, trail users can commute all the way from Rock Bridge Elementary School to Green Meadows Road. Users can access the trail at any Providence intersection along the way.

Neighborhoods to the west of Providence Road can create their own exercise loop by use of neighborhood and street sidewalks and using the South Providence Trail for the east leg. Several sidwalk connections off the Providence outerbound road were improved as part of this project.

The development of the trail was federally funded and administered by GetAbout Columbia. The project was originally referred to as Providence Bikeway South. The project was completed in 2011 and cost $1,170,000. The trail has been incorporated into Columbia's trail system and is managed by the Parks and Recreation Department.

When the Greenbriar Connection Project is completed, commuters on the South Providence Trail will be able to access the Hinkson Creek Trail by traveling down Green Meadows Drive to Greenbriar Drive via roads and sidewalks. The Hinkson Creek Trail connects to the MU Recreation Trail and the MKT Trail.
