provides city planning and
community development
services to the community
and other governmental
agencies.
Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications for the Community Development Commission are that one
member must be from the Boone County Community Services Advisory Commission,
each of the six wards of the City must be represented, and two at-large members
must be appointed. All members must be registered voters of the City. The
length of terms is three years, with openings occurring in November.
Duties and responsibilities:
The community development commission.
- acts in an advisory capacity in all matters pertaining to
community development.
- considers the annual application for the expenditures of
federal funds under the Housing and Community Development Act of 1974 and
make recommendations to the city manager and the city council.
- assists in the planning of funded activities, promotes and
stimulates public interest in those activities, and solicits the cooperation
of the neighborhood associations and other public and private agencies.
- provides citizens with an adequate
opportunity to participate in an advisory role in
planning, implementing and assessing the program
in accordance with federal regulations now or hereafter
adopted by providing adequate information to citizens.
holding public hearings to obtain views of citizens,
and providing citizens an opportunity to comment
on the city's community development performance.
