Some of the Commission's duties are:
- To investigate and recommend to the Council
the implementation of a broad package of incentives
and benefits to encourage redevelopment of historically
significant structures;
- To initiate, develop and supervise surveys
to identify historically and architecturally significant
properties;
- To review applications for the designation
of landmarks and historic districts in the City.

and owners of real property on physical and financial
aspects of preservation, renovation, rehabilitation
and reuse;
- To encourage nomination of landmarks and
historic districts to the National Register of Historic
Places;
