The City of Columbia administers several housing rehabilitation programs: the Community Development Block Grant and HOME owner-occupied housing rehab programs (maximum assistance : $35,000), the emergency repair program (maximum assistance: $5,000), and the Code Deficiency Abatement Program (maximum assistance: $5,000). These programs are designed to meet the housing repair needs of low income homeowners in Columbia. We anticipate completing 50 projects annually through these programs. We are actively recruiting additional qualified contractors, both general and specialty contractors, to participate in these rehabilitation programs, including female-owned and minority-owned business enterprises.
If your company is interested in participating in our rehab programs, an application is available at this Web site (see below), or you may contact the Department of Planning and Development at (573) 874-7239, and an application will be mailed to you. Once we receive your completed application form, we will verify the information you have provided and contact references. It is a very simple process. You will be notified when this process is complete and your name is added to our list. As a qualified general or specialty contractor, your name will be added to the appropriate City bid list(s), and you will be notified of bid lettings for future projects.
Please feel free to contact Sam Abdullah at 874-7257 or Vicki Turner at 874-7241 should you have questions or need additional information. We look forward to hearing from you.
