Commercial and Residential Security Evaluations

The Community Services Unit of the Columbia Police Department offers security evaluations for businesses and residences, free of charge. These must be scheduled in advance. What can a security evaluation offer you or your business?

Our Crime Prevention Officers will walk through your home or business to look at doors, windows, locks, lighting, landscaping, fencing, security devices, and other features, and make suggestions to help better secure the property. Our goals are to keep employees and residents safe, and reduce incidents of vandalism, burglary, robbery, and other crimes. Homes and businesses should be inviting to the people who legitimately belong there, and uninviting to criminals.

We will help businesses look at other issues like traffic flow, parking lot design, opening and closing procedures, cash-handling procedures, and other issues that may be a security concern.
