Columbia Police Cadet Corps

Welcome to the Columbia Police Cadets Web Page. The Columbia Police Department Cadet Corps was created in October of 1975, with an original group of 34 cadets. They became active within the community in January 1976, after training.

The goal of the Cadet Corps remains the same: to involve the youth of the community with police officers in a positive way. Cadets work directly with police officers in non-enforcement activities. The Cadets and the community both benefit from their involvement. As well, Cadets provide assistance to police officers, allowing the officers to concentrate on enforcement activities.

Cadets are assigned to the Crime Prevention Unit. Some of the activities cadets assist with include the annual Home, Lawn and Garden Show, Youth Field Day, Neighborhood Watch, National Night Out, and many other festivals and events. They help direct traffic at the high school homecoming Parade, MU homecoming parade, the Memorial Day Air Show and parade, and various other events.
