Columbia Police Department Youth Academy

Youth Academy LogoDo you love CSI? Ever watch Law and Order? Can’t miss COPS on Saturday night? Do you have an interest in the public service careers?

Attend the Columbia Youth Academy June 16-20, 2008, 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. It’s for teens who are enrolled in junior high or high school (Grades 8 - 12).

Topics and activities in the academy include: Detective Unit, K-9 Unit, SWAT Team, Traffic Unit, Domestic Violence Unit, Juvenile Office, Boone Hospital Center Ambulance Service, Columbia Fire Department, Boone County Fire Training Center, Boone County Jail, Boone County Courthouse, Composites, Crisis Negotiation Team, Special Guest Speakers, and Tours. Students graduate with an increased knowledge of all the public service type careers.

To enroll you must meet the following qualifications:

Parental consent is required. You must provide your own transportation to and from the police department. All applicants will be screened for prior criminal violations. Applicants who had a prior criminal violation may still be considered if recommended by a school resource officer.
