Fines & Payments The Municipal Court can punish red light violations by a fine from $1.00 - $500; by up to three months’ imprisonment; or by a fine and imprisonment. If the violation does not involve an accident, the driver can plead guilty to a red light violation and pay a total fine and costs of $120 through the Traffic Violations Bureau.
If there was an accident when the violation occurred, a court appearance is mandatory!
Traffic citations that don’t involve accidents may be paid as described below.
Click on the “View and Pay Citation” link. Follow the instructions to view the images associated with your citation, to pay the fine or, if you think the citation was issued in error, to contest it.
When paying a red light violation citation by mail, please sign the appearance, plea of guilty and waiver on the back of the citation. Mail the signed citation with a money order or cashier’s check (DO NOT SEND CASH) for $120. Make checks payable to “City of Columbia.” Mail the signed citation and payment to:

Walk-in payments will be accepted Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. at the office shown below. A money order, cashier’s check, Visa card, MasterCard or cash is accepted when paying in person. Please bring your citation with you when you come to the Traffic Violations Bureau.
