The Columbia Vision Commission established goals and performance measures for the strategies identified in Columbia's Vision and Action Plan Final Report .
In January of 2010, the Commission submitted a report to the City Council.
The goals for Law Enforcement and Public Safety include the following performance measures:
Goal: The Police Department has a Citizen Review System utilizing Dr. Thomspon's recommendations.
Goal: The Police Department has equitable allocation of staff to reduce crime and substance abuse throughout the city.
Goal: There are technological, staffing, and education programs to reduce traffic violations.
Goal: There is a public education program on personal and home safety and on community policing challenges.
Goal: There is planned outreach on emergency services to new developments, college students, and other new residents.
Goal: There is a plan for handling cell phone 911 calls that don't identify the location; and there is a plan for increased use of 911 registration.
Goal: There is a plan for handling outreach to minorities and people with disabilities.
