Engineering Capital Improvement Projects

The Engineering CIP Division provides engineering survey, design and inspection support to Public Works Utilities, operational divisions, and other city departments. The Engineering Division is responsible for review of development proposals, subdivision plats and plans for streets, storm drainage and sanitary sewer improvements. Engineering Division inspects the construction of work within rights of way and easements.

The Engineering CIP Division is responsible for survey, design, right-of-way acquisition, contracting and construction inspection of public works infrastructure which are part of the Capital Improvements Program (CIP). Typical CIP projects include: Storm Drains, Sanitary Sewers, Sidewalks, Trail, Streets, Intersections and Traffic Signals. Projects are prioritized annually as part of the City’s budget process. Projects are designed to the highest safety and performance standards possible while paying close attention to citizens' input, environmental and economic concerns. The Engineering Division follows an extensive Public Involvement Process during the development of a project.
