Click here to see how the Material Recovery Facility works The Material Recovery Facility handles all recyclable material collected by the City of Columbia Solid Waste Division. The general public may also bring clean loads of old corrugated cardboard, newspaper, office paper, and aluminum containers to the facility at no charge during normal working hours. Commingled materials may be brought to the facility for various charges based upon materials. For smaller quantities, the public is encouraged to use the drop-off recycling containers conveniently located around town. Major appliances - washer, range, dryer, freezer, dehumidifier, stove, dishwasher, refrigerator, water heater, air conditioner, trash compactor, and conventional ovens - are accepted on site and charged a fee of $10.00 per appliance or $15.00 for units containing freon. |
