Household Hazardous Wastes

How we dispose of those unwanted toxic products like oil, paint and gardening chemicals can greatly impact our waterways. Chemicals should NEVER be poured down storm drains! These drain directly into the nearest stream and are not treated. Columbia residents who are cleaning out their garage or basement and find hazardous materials are encouraged to take them to the Columbia Public Works Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility located at 1313 Lakeview, one block west of the City power plant in Columbia, Missouri. No hazardous materials will be collected curbside. The facility is open on the first and third Saturdays of April through November, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
