The mission of the Public Works Department is to effectively maintain and develop public infrastructure and facilities, and to provide services to the public to achieve common social, economic, and environmental desires. Public Works takes a proactive approach towards sustainability by altering methods of transportation, energy consumption, urban planning and sustainable architecture to preserve and enhance the city for future generations.

Purpose

To construct, protect, and maintain, within the authority provided by the City Code of Ordinances, the physical structures and facilities that have been determined necessary for public purposes and to provide services to the public to facilitate the achievement of common social, economic, and environmental desires.
