Contact: Columbia Public Works
Just talked with street crews and here's a quick update on what occurred overnight -
All 1st and 2nd priority routes have been plowed and at least one lane on those routes are passable.
There are hundreds of stalled/abandoned vehicles on many roads - some in the driving lanes. Use caution!
As sidewalks are still covered, crews have noted that many pedestrians are use the plowed lanes to walk in. Use caution!
As good progress was made on 1st and 2nd priority routes overnight, we anticipate getting into residential areas early this afternoon and will work throughout the weekend on residential streets.
We will make an announcement soon on refuse collection and how we plan to pick up those Thursday customers the storm prevented us from picking up.
We will likely start the day with transit buses on the Emergency Weather Schedule meaning buses will operate on a one hour loop.
As mentioned earlier, the first COU to DFW flight this morning has been cancelled. All other flights are showing as scheduled and the airports main runway remains open.
Again, we thank you all for your patience as our crews throughout Public Works operations work hard to restore and maintain services.
