The Missouri Symphony Society kicks off its 10th anniversary season of the Hot Summer Nights Festival with a free concert on June 6, 7 p.m. at Stephens Lake Park Amphitheater. Under the direction of Maestro Kirk Trevor, the orchestra will perform a variety of classical and pops favorites. The concert will give the audience a glimpse of the 2013 Hot Summer Nights season, which runs through July 13. The performance is also part of the Stephens Lake Park Amphitheater Concert Series.
The concert is sponsored by the City of Columbia's Office of Cultural Affairs and Parks and Recreation. "There was a great turnout in 2012 when the Missouri Symphony Society performed at the amphitheater," says Office of Cultural Affairs manager Chris Stevens. "We wanted to invite them back this year to kick off the 10th anniversary season of Hot Summer Nights. This concert is a great opportunity for the community to take in a world class performance by the Missouri Symphony Orchestra at no cost."
