At 3:11 a.m. Monday, August 12, 2013, the Columbia Fire Department responded to a reported building on fire at the golf course located in the 1200 block of Willowcreek Lane in south Columbia.
Columbia Firefighters arrived on scene at 3:18 a.m. to find a 30 foot by 30 foot bathroom pavilion on fire. The open-air pavilion with attached bathrooms was located near the Country Club of Missouri's 14th tee box.
Because the fire was located on the golf course a significant distance away from the nearest roadway, firefighters had to extend hose lines approximately 400 feet. "Our fire crews were initially challenged by the distance from the road and had to double our normal two hundred foot preconnected attack lines" said Columbia Fire Captain John Metz. "Once we made the adjustment, the fire was under control in about five minutes" Metz said.
At the time of this release a fire cause has not yet been determined. Damage is estimated at $12,000. There were no injuries.
