The City of Columbia Community Development Department is requesting public input on a potential code revision to allow for Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs). The purpose of an ADU is to create new housing units while preserving the look and scale of one-family neighborhoods. ADUs can be created within an existing one-family dwelling or built as a new stand-alone structure behind the principal dwelling.
The Community Development Department is committed to ensuring that citizen input figures prominently throughout this process. The second in a series of public meetings will be held on Wednesday, January 29 at 6 p.m. in Conference Room 1A/B of City Hall, 701 E. Broadway. Citizens are encouraged to attend and learn more about ADUs, what a change to city ordinances would entail and share any feedback that they have.
