Columbia Public Works crews were out plowing Columbia streets again this afternoon after more snow hit the area, and they will be working overnight on priority roads.
The City had been tracking a chance for snow and salted roadways Friday in preparation for the event to fight slick conditions and add traction for customers. After a couple of bands of light snow moved through the area over the weekend, the crews were fully prepared and report that priority routes are already generally passable this evening.
Accumulations were higher than originally predicted, and southern parts of Columbia saw as much as 2" of accumulation from Sunday's snowfall alone. To fight slick conditions on priority routes, an 8-person crew will be working overnight Sunday and into Monday morning treating roadways with salt and calcium chloride.
Customers can get more information on the City's snow and ice management website, www.comosnow.com, or on the Public Works Facebook and Twitter pages.
