COLUMBIA, MO (March 22, 2014) - The Columbia Fire Department was dispatched to a commercial structure fire at 3705 Forum Boulevard, Country Club Apartments, on Saturday March 22, 2014 at 4:02pm.
Units arrived on the scene less than six minutes later and found heavy fire and smoke coming from apartment 824 on the second story of the two story structure. Crews deployed a pre-connected hose line along with elevated, high volume water streams from aerial devices and began an aggressive fire attack.
Approximately eight minutes into the operation fire was beginning to encroach on an adjacent apartment through the attic space. The incident commander sounded a second alarm, dispatching three additional fire apparatus and personnel.
Approximately thirty minutes after the first crews arrived on the scene, the fire was brought under control with the majority of damage contained to apartment 824. Crews performed overhaul operations for over one hour to ensure the fire had not spread through concealed spaces.
