Columbia, Mo. - The threat of severe weather has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Tornado Watch for several counties, including Boone County, until Midnight.
A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms which could produce tornadoes in the area. In addition, heavy rain could exacerbate poor driving conditions for motorists for the next 12 to 24 hours. Motorists are advised to use extreme caution when driving tonight and early Friday, and avoid areas where water covers the roadway.
In addition to the tornado watch, Boone County is under a Flash Flood Warning until 10:30 p.m., a Flash Flood Watch until 4 a.m. Friday, and a Flood Warning until 1 p.m. Friday afternoon.
