Boone County Public Safety Joint Communications (PSJC) will activate the county's outdoor all hazard outdoor warning sirens on Wednesday, May 7. The test, conducted in coordination with the Office of Emergency Management (OEM), ensures the county's outdoor warning system is working correctly.
The test is done on the first Wednesday of each month. The outdoor sirens are used as a way to warn citizens in reference to all types of hazards. They are not designed to be heard by persons who are indoors. Persons who are indoors are encouraged to purchase a NOAA weather radio, to keep updated on threatening weather events.
In the event of threatening weather conditions, the test will be cancelled.
