The Columbia Fire Department was dispatched to a commercial structure fire at 131 Tenth Street South, Mackenzie's Prime, on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 11:41pm. Units arrived less then three minutes later and found a shed attached to the rear of the structure fully involved with fire with some extension to the main structure. Fire Department personnel deployed preconnected hoselines and performed an aggressive exterior fire attack. It took approximately ten minutes to extinguish most of the fire. During fire attack, an energized electrical line dislodged from the building, struck the ground and began arcing. Fire crews backed to a safe distance and monitored the main building and exposures until Columbia Water and Light arrived to disconnect power to the energized line. Crews resumed applying water in the affected area and began overhaul operations, searching for fire extension in concealed spaces. Fire investigators are on the scene. No damage estimate or cause of the fire have been determined at the time of this press release. Seven units from the Columbia Fire Department responded to this event. No injuries were reported.
