A random sample of Columbia households will receive mailed surveys over the next few days, seeking views on City transit and paratransit service improvements and funding. All six City wards will be part of the random sample.
Surveys should start arriving at homes by mail this week. The return address on the envelope will be that of ETC Institute, the consultant that has conducted Columbia's citizen surveys since 2003.
The surveys will include postage-paid return envelopes, and individual responses will remain confidential. To encourage participation, ETC Institute will make reminder calls a few days after the surveys are mailed.
Citizens can respond to the survey during that call, if they wish, or they may complete the survey online at www.columbiatransitsurvey.org.
Anyone may take the online survey and, to assure statistical integrity, responses from the random sample households will be counted separately from other responses.
The survey period will end in July. ETC Institute will share the overall results with the City Council in a public session later this summer.
