Neighborhood Leadership Program

The Neighborhood Leadership Program (NLP) will be held again in 2011 with the goal of helping leaders - and future leaders - grow personally and gain skills that will help them in guiding Columbia's neighborhoods.

Sessions are scheduled for Tuesday evenings from 6:00-8:30 p.m from February 1 - March 15, 2011. Sessions will be held at the Walton Building, 300 S. Providence Road. Participants are asked to commit to attending all seven sessions.

• February 8 - Code Enforcement: protective inspection and environmental health - Livability issues in Columbia

• February 15 - Planning and the Comprehensive Plan

• February 22 - Public Safety: Columbia Police Department, Columbia Fire Department, and Public Safety - Joint Communications
• March 1 - Growth & Development Issues
  • Downtown Development Issues
  • Park Planning Issues
• March 8 - Supporting Successful Neighborhoods
  • Broadening and Deepening Public Involvement in Portland, OR
  • Budget for Office of Neighborhood Involvement, Portland, OR
• March 15 - Final Session & Graduation - What's next?
  • Columbia/Boone County Joint Efforts

Space is limited to 25 participants. The registration fee is $25, including instruction, materials, and snacks. Scholarships are available. Deadline to apply has been extended; applications are still being accepted.
