What is the Neighborhood Pride Program?

The Neighborhood Pride Program encourages Columbia residents to pick up trash while walking in their neighborhood. Participants are also asked to report any suspicious activity along their route, sidewalk problems that would affect pedestrians, missing or damaged street signs, pot holes in streets, and any other issues that city staff can address.

Program Benefits:

A cleaner city
Healthier, more active citizens

Greater awareness of pedestrian issues
Increased communication from citizens on maintenance issues that city staff can address

Volunteer Requirements:

Must be Columbia residents
Should commit to a minimum of two hours per month as a volunteer
Should by physically able to walk and pick up litter
Must commit to video training
Should be willing to communicate with the Office of Volunteer Services a minimum of four times annually by mail or e-mail with a simple participation report.
Volunteers of all ages are encouraged to participate. Those 12 and younger must by an adult; those 17 years of age and younger must have the permission of a parent or guardian.
