Electric discounts and rates
The Columbia City Council increased the Load Management program discount on summer electric bills from 3% to 5% for 2008. The increased discount is to encourage participation in this program because it saves the utility on energy purchased during peak summer electric periods.
Why have Columbia Water & Light's electric rates gone up? The cost of the power that the city purchases has steadily increased over the last several years. The electric rate increase is to help cover these increased costs to the utility.
