Commercial Customer Efficiency Rebates

We offer incentives for the following items:

Heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems
Solar water heater
Photovoltaic systems
Lighting upgrades

Heating and Cooling System Equipment

If your cooling system is older than 10 years, you have frequent service problems and/or you see your utility bills going up, it is time to consider installing a new unit. Upgrading to a more efficient air conditioning unit can substantially reduce your cooling costs.

Our rebates range from $570 to $3,010 depending on the size and the efficiency rating of the unit. Both owners of commercial buildings and/or the tenants that lease the commercial spaces are eligible for our commercial rebate program. All commercial and industrial customer classifications are eligible. Due to the increased costs of higher efficiency units, the amount of the rebate offered to you goes up with a more efficient unit. Units that are sized for commercial use go by the Energy Efficiency Rating (EER) system.

DUCT WORK: A heating and cooling system duct work inspection will be completed by Columbia Water & Light before the rebate is issued. We want to insure that all supply and return vents that are visually accessible are properly connected. It is commonly found that duct work has been disconnected which creates obvious inefficiency problems.

These rebates are for prepackaged & split systems. Rebates for smaller units are available under our residential Energy Efficiency Rebate program.

Requirements

Electric customers on the commercial/industrial rate structure
Incentives are available to a property owner or customer of active, non-delinquent account
Rebates are only available for HVAC replacements
Columbia Water & Light must pre-approve all new systems, please submit a commercial HVAC application.
All work must be done by licensed HVAC contractor
Applicant must provide copy of invoice and duct inspection prior to the rebate being awarded
Rebates are awarded on a first-come first-serve basis while funds are available
Columbia Water & Light is not responsible for equipment performance including energy savings or other warranties or guarantees, either expressed or implied
Columbia Water & Light reserves the right to adjust rebate awards or otherwise amend or discontinue program without notice

Lighting Rebate

Commercial lighting can represents 10% to 25% of your total energy use so upgrades can make a real difference on your electric costs. We offer a rebate of $300 per kilowatt of reduction with lighting system upgrade or one half the invoiced cost of the project, whichever is less. The maximum amount of a lighting rebate for a single project or combined projects at one location is $22,500 or a 75 kilowatt reduction, whichever is lower. Solar Water Heater Rebate

You can receive a $400 Rebate for the solar water heating system. If you convert to an electric back-up system, you can receive an additional $400 rebate. Solar water heating is a simple, efficient, and affordable technology that can cut water heating costs by 50 – 80%. Please consult our web page for more information on solar water heaters.

(Solar) Photovoltaic System Rebate

We offer $500 per kilowatt for 250 to 10,000 watt photovoltaic system. You can also sign an interconnection agreement which allows you to sell back extra energy you don’t use. Please consult our web page for more information on solar systems.

Water & Light's Commercial Super Saver Loan + Rebate = No out of pocket expense to you!
Super Saver loans have a fixed, low-interest rate. You can take up to five years to pay the loan back. Loans are available for many energy efficiency improvements.
