DEPARTMENT / DIVISION:
Public Works/Engineering
Work is performed under the general supervision of a Supervising Engineer. This is a professional planning and design position requiring expertise in addressing bicycle and pedestrian transportation and recreation needs.
PARTIAL LISTING OF MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a Bachelor's Degree in Planning, Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, or other closely related area with an advanced degree highly desirable, and five years of increasingly responsible professional experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which would provide the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: Ability to plan, organize, and carry out projects and present the information in oral, written and graphic form. Requires a background in planning of bicycle and pedestrian transportation and recreation systems and projects at the state, regional or local level. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written skills. Must be a self-starter and be able to work in a team environment. Skills in general computer use and a high level of knowledge and experience in computer aided design. Ability to prepare specifications and construction drawings. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community interest groups, the general public, City officials, and City staff. Knowledge of construction and zoning standards and regulations. Knowledge of maps, deeds, plats, and plans. Ability to prepare accurate plans, specifications, cost estimates, and engineering reports. Excellent work history and attendance record. Possess and maintain a valid Missouri driver's license and an excellent driving record.
