Information Services
Work is performed under general supervision and is reviewed by observation of results obtained.This is clerical and office work performed within the Information Services Department. Work involves clerical duties including filing, sorting, arithmetical computations, posting data, keeping records, and operating office machines.
SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIES:
None.
WORK PERFORMED:
Performs clerical work such as the posting of detailed records; makes arithmetic computations; checks and maintains lists; proofreads typed materials to verify correct spelling, syntax, punctuation, and format. Acts as receptionist; answers telephone and personal inquiries; routes visitors and calls; secures information from appropriate sources; schedules appointments. Sorts and files cards, correspondence, reports and other materials, alphabetically, numerically, or by other established classification; sorts and distributes mail; prepares materials for distribution; posts data to individual records. Operates a variety of office equipment; sets up small office equipment and prepares meeting areas. Types reports and correspondence using a typewriter or word processor. Maintains inventory and supplies necessary for office operations. Performs related duties as needed or assigned.
PARTIAL LISTING OF MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school and one year of general clerical experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which would provide the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: Some knowledge of business communications. Some knowledge of office practices, methods, and procedures. Ability to operate a variety of modern office equipment, including microcomputers and other electronic equipment; ability to successfully complete the City Clerical Exam and typing test prior to application deadline. Ability to perform clerical work of standard difficulty. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other City employees and the general public. Ability to write legibly, use proper grammar and punctuation and to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to work at routine assignments for extended periods as needed. Excellent work history and attendance record. Must possess and maintain a valid Missouri Driver's License and an excellent driving record.
