Work is performed under the continuing supervision of the Treasury Support Supervisor. This is lead work that involves oversight of receiving and processing payments from individuals, businesses, and organizations for various City services provided. The employee in this position maintains numerous documents and other records related to Treasury Management and banking activity.


    SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIES:
None; however, the employee may provide guidance and/or direction to cashiers.


    WORK PERFORMED:
Provides guidance to cashiers for all aspects of all payments received for City services such as utility accounts, special tax bills, invoice billings, collections, and miscellaneous payments. Prepares daily deposit by performing accurate data entry and verifying items collected against data reports. Assists with reviewing all cash collections and departmental cash reports for accuracy, reasonableness and proper distribution to revenue accounts. Maintains work flow in the treasury management unit by ensuring that all shifts are covered in the most efficient and effective manner possible. Maintains calendar and anticipates possible staffing situations. Responds to inquiries regarding payments processed. Researches inquiries and reports findings to Treasury Supervisor. Assists in resolution of customer complaints. Maintains numerous documents and filing systems related to Treasury Management. Leads on-the-job training of new cashiers. Acts as liaison between cashiers and Treasury Support Supervisor. Assists Treasury Support Supervisor in development and implementation of new policies and procedures. Demonstrates attention to detail and commitment to accurate results. Demonstrates ability to provide good customer service, deals well with customers, both internal and external. Demonstrates research and analytical skills related to financial operations. Performs related duties as needed or assigned.


    PARTIAL LISTING OF MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school and two years of experience in bookkeeping/cashiering or a field related to clerical accounting; college level training in bookkeeping or accounting is desirable; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which would provide the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: Proficient in the use of personal computers and related software in performing financial duties, specifically MS Word, Excel, and Windows Operating Systems. Ability to evaluate policies and procedures, exercise judgment, and implement approved policies. Ability to conduct research. Knowledge of basic accounting practices, techniques, and terminology. Basic knowledge of customer service policies and procedures. Knowledge of standard office procedures, practices and equipment. Ability to understand financial records and to prepare accurate financial reports. Ability to work tactfully and courteously with the public and other employees. Ability to receive payments and make change accurately under pressure. Excellent work history and attendance record. Must have no criminal record relating to money. Must be eligible to be bonded.
