    DEPARTMENT / DIVISION:      Public Works/Landfill
Work is generally performed in an independent environment and is reviewed by observation of results obtained. This is highly procedural clerical accounting work performed at the City Landfill.


    SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIES:
None.


    WORK PERFORMED:
Performs clerical accounting work such as the posting of detailed records; makes arithmetic computations using calculator; assists public in filling out forms; makes change, processes cash, checks and charge payments; and checks/maintains lists. Calculates and collects landfill fees and balances cash drawer. Inspects vehicle loads utilizing overhead camera system or by climbing onto vehicles and examining contents. Climbs and descends stairs to/from the scale house. Utilizes personal computer and specialized software to enter data, maintain record base, and generate reports. Lifts boxes of paper weighing up to 20 pounds. Receives and distributes supplies; runs errands and makes deliveries; keeps routine records. Performs related duties as needed or assigned.


    PARTIAL LISTING OF MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school or equivalent with some cashiering experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Ability to work tactfully and courteously with the public and other employees. Ability to handle large volume of customers and cash transactions accurately under pressure. Understanding of financial transactions and business practices. Knowledge of standard office procedures, practices, and equipment. Physical and visual capability sufficient to permit inspection of vehicle loads utilizing overhead camera system or by climbing onto vehicles and examining contents. Ability to calculate and collect landfill fees, make change, and balance cash drawer. Ability to utilize personal computer and specialized software to enter data, maintain record base, and generate reports. Knowledge of bookkeeping practices, and terminology. Highly proficient in the use of calculators, personal computers, and financial software in performing duties. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to lift boxes of paper weighing up to 20 pounds and climb and descend stairs. Ability to use portable toilet facilities. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to work at routine assignments for extended periods as needed. Ability to successfully complete City Clerical exam prior to application deadline. Possess and maintain a valid Missouri Driver's License and an excellent driving record. Excellent work history and attendance record. Must have no criminal record relating to money.
