DEPARTMENT / DIVISION:
Water & L:ight/Engineering
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Engineering Manager. The employee is expected to exercise considerable independent judgment and discretion in the performance of a variety of job duties. This is responsible paraprofessional work.
SUPERVISION RESPONSIBILITIES:
None; however, the employee may be required to provide direction/training to new employees and/or interns.
WORK PERFORMED:
Facilitates completion, collection, and flow of required forms/documents such as legal documents or notices regarding easements, contract agreements and other project related matters, purchase orders/requisitions, requests for information, or other forms indigenous to Engineering's operations. Maintains permanent records and files for construction projects and system additions. Maintains various reference files, assembles and organizes data, and prepares necessary reports. Responds to inquiries and provides information to the public and to other City personnel. Performs other related duties as needed or assigned.
PARTIAL LISTING OF MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school with college or business school training preferred; and two years of experience working with engineering contracts and records; or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience which would provide the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: Considerable knowledge of general office procedures and processes. Ability to prepare and process new service applications. Considerable experience with spreadsheets and database applications. Ability to make mathematical calculations and computations accurately. Considerable knowledge of computer operations/applications. Successful completion of the City Clerical Exam and typing test. Ability to organize workload and comply with priorities and deadlines. Ability to establish and maintain an effective record keeping system. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public. Excellent work history and attendance record.
