City Calendar Public Event Guidelines

Submitting Events for Inclusion on the Calendar

The City of Columbia Web Calendar is used for official City of Columbia government events or those events sponsored by one or more City of Columbia departments. All other events can be posted on one of the various other local events calendars provided in our things to do section.

Only events that meet the following guidelines may be published on the City of Columbia Calendar. If your event meets these guidelines and you would like to have it published on the City of Columbia Calendar, you may submit your event using our event submission form. Please allow 3 to 5 business days for your event to appear on the city calendar.

Fliers and other attachments can not be accepted.

City-sponsored event

An open public meeting, public hearing, news conference or other event sponsored or authorized by the City Council, the City Manager or by a City department; and
An event where a City department is the lead or sole sponsor, organizer and promoter.

Community event

An event that is:

Open to the public;
Within a five-mile radius of the city limits of Columbia, Missouri;
Non-partisan, non-political and non-advocacy;
Non-commercial and not for profit or for profit events registered with an approved special use permit; and
Does not promote any religion or for-profit group.
