Columbia Police Department Honor Guard

The Columbia Police Department Honor Guard was created in May 2010 and consists of volunteer officers who take pride in representing our police department at a wide variety of functions. The CPD Honor Guard provides services for special events, promotions, retirements, and funerals. The team trains together on a regular basis to maintain their professional appearance and performance.

In May 2015, the Honor Guard had the privilege of traveling to Arlington, Virginia to train with the U.S. Army Old Guard. The Old Guard is the oldest active-duty infantry unit in the Army, serving our nation since 1784. Only a select few Honor Guards nationwide are invited to be a part of this training. The training week coincided with National Police Week in Washington, DC where tens of thousands of law enforcement officers converge and participate in a number of events to honor those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. In 2005, Officer Molly Bowden was honored at the event after her passing in February of that year.
